What do they do?

What are ozone plates, and why do you need them? Ozone generators produce ozone and clean the air in a large space, deodorizing, disinfecting and generally removing dangerous or irritating particles.

In the Ozone Blaster 14g and Ozone Blaster 2, ozone is created by applying high voltage to a metallic grid that’s placed between two dielectrics. These plates are referred to as ozone plates. So, for your ozone blaster to be working properly, its plates must be properly maintained.

Cleaning your Ozone Plates

Ozone plates are simple to clean. They slide out of an ozone blaster like a CD for cleaning every three to four months. How can you tell when they need cleaning? You won’t be able to see it, but you’ll know.

Ozone plates build up an invisible film over time that make treatments less effective. If odors are coming through, it’s time to clean those plates.

A strong detergent, vinegar or bleach will do the job. Simply scrub with a brush, rinse and dry. Plates absolutely must be dry before reinstallation!

Beware of companies that sell machines with non-removable plates! Once the plates go, you’ll need to purchase a whole new ozone generator.

Replacing Your Ozone Plates

With diligent cleaning and maintenance, ozone plates can take between one and seven years before they wear out entirely depending on how often you use your machine.
